The TBPG Ethics Course was designed by TBPG Board Member Christopher Mathewson, PG, PE, PhD. A person who wishes to take the Ethics Course must select "register" below to create a unique user id and password for access to this program. It will allow you to view the ethics video, take the quiz, and obtain a certificate of completion. .
This course registration and login is not related to a Texas licensed Professional Geoscientist or certified Geoscientist-in-Training’s TBPG Online account.
The TBPG grants one professional development hour (PDH) of continuing education credit which may be applied to the one hour of continuing education in the area of professional ethics, roles and responsibilities of Professional Geoscientists required by the TBPG for the annual renewal of a P.G. license or GIT certification. Per TBPG rule §851.32(c) and (d), the TBPG requires a total of 15 continuing education hours annually, which includes one hour of continuing education in the area of professional ethics, roles and responsibilities of Professional Geoscientists, in order to renew a P.G. license. Similarly, a person certified as a GIT must complete 8 hours of continuing education annually, including one hour of continuing education in “ethics training,” in order to renew GIT certification. This video and quiz are one option for fulfilling the ethics requirement.
Taking the course and completing the quiz with a passing score (70 or better) will result in a printable course completion certificate being provided to the student.
