Both the FG and PG will be offered in the 8am to 12pm and 1pm to 5pm time slots.
Candidates taking the examinations will be able to sign up and take the exam(s) at any of
575 Prometric testing facilities throughout the contiguous US, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii.

Once TBPG has approved and pre-registered a candidate to sit for an exam, the candidate will receive an email from registrations@isoqualitytesting.com on February 1, 2023 that will contain instructions regarding how to register, pay and schedule their exam.

P.G. applicants must take the licensing exam(s) for their respective discipline or verify proof of passing examination scores prior to applying for licensure to the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG). Please see the required examinations below.
Applicants for GIT certification are required to have passed the Fundamentals exam for the disciplines of geology or soil science, or the Texas Geophysics Exam for the geophysics discipline.
Geology Exam (ASBOG® Examination)
TBPG utilizes the National Association of State Boards of Geology (ASBOG®) examination for Texas P.G. licensure. The ASBOG® exam is given in two parts: the Fundamentals of Geology exam (FG) and the Practice of Geology (PG) exam.
Proof of passing scores on both the Fundamentals of Geology and the Practice of Geology portions of the exam are required in order to be licensed as a P.G. in geology. If you took the ASBOG® examination(s) in Texas, your test scores should be on record at TBPG, and no further proof is required. However, if you took the ASBOG® exam in another state or jurisdiction, please submit a Verification of other licenses form to the appropriate state or jurisdiction to request verification of your passing scores be sent to TBPG. Applicants are responsible for any charges for verification of examination scores. GIT applicants need only have passed the Fundamentals of Geology exam.
The March 2023 application period is CLOSED. The next examination we will be accepting applications for is October 2023. We will not be processing any requests for the next examination until exam results from the last one have been received and processed. To register for the next ASBOG® examination(s), you may apply online, or you may send in a completed Exam Request (Form E) with all required materials and $25 fee to TBPG by the application deadline. For applications to be considered for the exam, all exam request materials must be received by TBPG on or before the deadline.
To qualify to sit for the ASBOG Fundamentals of Geology exam, test takers must have 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours and hold a four-year degree or be within 6 months of completing a four-year degree. The following items are required along with an exam request application:
To qualify to sit for the ASBOG Practice of Geology exam, test takers must have 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours, hold a four-year degree, and have 5 years of qualifying work experience (or be within 6 months of obtaining 5 years of qualifying work experience). To qualify to sit for the Practice of Geology exam, you MUST have P.G. Application/Initial Application for Geology Licensure on file.

The cost to sit for these examinations is as follows. These exam fees are paid directly to Prometrics. TBPG will provide information on how to pay for the exam after your exam request has been reviewed and approved.
